I agree that trying to blame others for one's own mistakes is both regrettable and immature and wrong. But the fact is that those on power who started the war are the responsible parties.

Pointing fingers at Biden and his lack luster team serves no real purpose but to continue your drumbeat theme of Biden's incompetence .

I appreciate your work more when you add solutions or recommendations.

Keep up the good work TO.

Michael,

Thanks for your comment.

I disagree. Those who started the war(Al Qaeda and the American response) are not the people responsible for the withdrawal decision. Biden is solely responsible.

I think calling attention to bad decisions and policies by Biden and his foreign policy team is of great importance. It helps to keep alive our sense of outrage and to avoid resignation and acquiescence.

20 million girls and women in Afghanistan face a life of brutal repression by religious zealots with a 14th century mindset. Modern men are also oppressed. The freedom that Afghans had two years ago, which was a lot including freedom of the press, is gone.

I am outraged that our president made a decision that is responsible for this outcome.

I am adamant in insisting that he replace Blinken and Sullivan with seasoned, independent people. The Wall Street Journal makes the argument that Biden's catastrophic decision to withdraw from Afghanistan had a lot to do with Putin's decision to invade Ukraine. There is a lot of truth to this. Republicans are likely to hammer Biden on these issues.

I'm not just pounding on Biden and his foreign policy team for the fun of it, but rather trying to keep alive in the reader the sense of outrage that might lead to action that will change things.

My prescription: Biden should admit mistakes in the withdrawal decision, stop dissembling, and install a new foreign policy team with assurances to the public that they won't repeat the mistakes of the past.

What's at stake?

The outcome of the 2024 presidential election, and the outcome of the Ukraine war.

In my mind, that's reason enough to maintain our sense of outrage and our demand that Biden take corrective actions such as those suggested.
