AUTHOR’S COMMENT
Are we all dead, people?
I received exactly one comment on the satirical article below, in the first day.
Which suggests to me, the author, either that no one is reading these columns, or that if they are reading the columns, and they read this one and have no reaction, that they are either humorless Trump supporters or they have become so psychologically numb that they are unable to laugh, and / or so socially isolated that they are unable to share their laugh or inability to laugh or other reaction with other readers in a Comment.
God help this country if even the dedicated followers of this newsletter cannot laugh or be bestirred to action sufficiently to share a laugh or criticism with fellow readers.
Wake up, readers! Without a robust sense of humor we are not going to make it through the next four years.
Let’s start speaking out. Let’s start standing up and saying what we think. That is the essence of a democratic culture. Without it our democracy will flounder.
Are we afraid? Is that why there are no comments? Of what are we afraid?
Do we believe that if we don’t stand up, if we don't speak out, that of which we are afraid will simply go away?
Study the history of the Third Reich. I have.
Let us start speaking out. Let’s start here.
On a personal note, why should I write columns if no one reads them?
Why should I try to find a humorous angle to the events of the day, if none of my readers still has a sense of humor?
As a writer, this author needs your feedback. If you think the article below is stupid and reading it was a stupid waste of your time, tell me. Share your opinion and criticisms with me and fellow readers.
Try to find a way to move from the passive to the active mode of reading and interacting with another person and his or her opinion.
Or should we all just give up and shut down?
Write a comment. Write something!
What was your reaction to the article below?

BACKGROUND
1) Carolyn Y. Johnson,”Scientists pinpoint when humans had babies with Neanderthals; Neanderthals interbred with modern humans 47,000 years ago, passing down DNA that still exists in many modern-day people, according to two new studies,” Washington Post, December 12, 2024
Scientists have identified the point in time 47,000 years ago when Neanderthals first had babies with humans.
These Neanderthal ancestors passed down DNA that still exists in many modern-day people.
Donald Trump learned through a recent DNA test that his DNA is 98% Neanderthal in origin. Curious, he enlisted the assistance of Elon Musk and his vast financial resources to investigate his ancestry further.
What the investigators found was that Trump is a direct descendant of the Leader of the dominant Neanderthal tribe 47,000 years ago, and that Trump has an amazingly high percentage of DNA that can be traced back to that particular individual leader.
Democrats have signed up the leading authorities on Neanderthals and Neanderthal behavior to help them devise a strategy for navigating through the next four years of Trump’s presidency.
Neanderthal experts, speaking anonymously because they are afraid they might lose their jobs or be prosecuted by the new Trump administration, are of the unanimous view that Trump is determined to recreate the Neanderthal social order in the next few years. They add that his recent nominations of cabinet members and other high officials point unmistakably to the conclusion that this is indeed his intention.
Researchers not affiliated with Trump and Musk are now investigating whether MAGA and other Trump supporters have some kind of genetic defect that makes them particularly susceptible to Neanderthal appeals, and in particular to appeals by a direct descendant of the great Neanderthal Leader 47,000 years ago represented by Donald Trump today.
