And since it is a timely topic I think a reflective editorial is in order. That said I would like to see or have read a more focused piece on what is happening there now and why it matters in regards to the United Nations and to the current war..
I haven't seen other commentators draw attention to the fact that the withdrawal of all contractors guaranteed the fall of the Ashraf Ghani government. I think the absolute betrayal of the Afghans by Biden is important to note, as it should evoke a sense on the part of Americans of continuing responsibility for the plight of the Afghan population.
I will write a more focused piece on what is happening there now, in the near future, before people forget Afghanistan again.
