The news this morning was more about Donald Trump nationalizing the National Guard and sending 2,000 guardsmen to the Los Angeles area.
Trump continues to test his powers as he carries out a coup d’état in little steps, while preparing for a definitive seizure of power. The little steps involve the desensitization of the public, which drains the well of potential outrage, so that when a real power grab is underway the public reaction will be muted.
This is what was referred in to in the first years after World War II when Communists were seeking to take over countries in Europe as “the salami technique”.
Trump and his co-conspirators have proven themselves to be masters of ”the salami technique”.

Every day a new outrage or power grab.
Meanwhile, few are focusing on the Congressional races in 2026 which could lead to an impeachment investigation and the actual impeachment and removal of Trump in January 2027, if not before.
Democrats are not even putting together an impeachment narrative of Trump’s “high crimes and misdemeanors”.
The Democrats have no real leaders. Those who hold the titles are weak, incredibly weak, lack boldness, and are unable to articulate the goal of impeaching and removing Trump from office.
Meanwhile Russia’s war against Ukraine, international law, and the U.N. Charter continues, with a “Russian asset” sitting in the Oval Office.
